1Password vs Runner Pouch

1Password's Enterprise Password Manager promises to “Protect every credential that keeps your business running.” Runner Pouch gives every login your team needs to the people and agents you choose, and the AI never sees the password.

In one line

1Password

A business password manager in 1Password's Extended Access Management family, beside Device Trust and a SaaS Manager. For agents: Secure Agentic Autofill, in early access through Browserbase since October 2025.

Pouch

The password manager for your team and its AI agents: logins for any website, given to the people and agents you choose, and the AI never sees the password.

How 1Password and Runner Pouch each hand out a credential

What it is bought for

1Password

Business password management: “Protect every credential that keeps your business running,” with granular vault permissions and audit-ready activity logs.

Pouch

Logins for any website, with notes and 2FA codes, viewed and copied after a check that it's you, and given to the people and agents you choose.

Keeping the password from the AI

1Password

Secure Agentic Autofill: “The AI agent and underlying LLM never need to see nor handle the credentials being used to complete the workflow.”

Pouch

The password never reaches the AI. Pouch keeps it out of chats, transcripts and logs.

How access is handed out

1Password

“Any request made for credentials must be approved by a human by default.”

Pouch

Choose all agents or only some for a stored account, with an optional limit of one hour, one day or one week.

What the operator sees

1Password

“The first implementation of Secure Agentic Autofill is available through Browserbase” — early access, for 1Password customers using Browserbase.

Pouch

The account, the named agents it was given to, and when each one got it.

Sharing with a person

1Password

Item sharing: “You can securely share copies of passwords and other items you’ve saved in 1Password with anyone, even if they don’t use 1Password.”

Pouch

Give a login to a named teammate, for a set time or until you take it back, or send a contractor a link that opens once.

What the record shows

1Password

The Enterprise Password Manager lists “Audit-ready activity logs.”

Pouch

Every assignment, view, copy and share, and a signed webhook that sends it to your own systems.

Already using 1Password?

If 1Password holds your business's credentials well today, keep it. Nothing on this page asks you to move them.

Use Pouch for the logins your team and its agents share: named assignments, optional time limits, one-time links, every view recorded, and a password no agent sees.

What Runner Pouch adds

  • Never the passwordGive an agent the account; the password stays out of every model, transcript and log.
  • Assignment choicesChoose all agents or only some, with a standing assignment or a limit of one hour, one day or one week.
  • One or allEnd one account assignment or take back every account assigned to an agent in one act.
  • Assignment historySee which account was assigned to which agent, when it started and when it ended.

Questions about 1Password and Runner Pouch

Is Pouch like Secure Agentic Autofill?

Yes, where it counts: like Secure Agentic Autofill, Pouch keeps the password from the agent. When a channel connects from Pouch, Runner puts the password in at the last step, outside the AI's view, so it never lands in a chat, a transcript or a log. The difference: 1Password fills a browser through Browserbase, with a person approving credential requests by default; Pouch is made for teams that run agents: you give each account to a named agent, for a set time if you like, and see who was given which.

Do I have to choose?

No. Keep the password manager that holds your personal and company credentials, and use Pouch for the accounts your agents work with.

Who can see and copy a saved password?

Owners, admins and anyone you give the login to, each after confirming it's them with a passkey or an authenticator code. Every view is recorded.

Can a Pouch assignment expire?

Yes. Choose one hour, one day or one week, or leave the assignment standing.

What happens when I take everything back from an agent?

Every account assignment for that agent ends in one act, and each return appears in assignment history.

How are saved passwords encrypted?

Each organization's saved passwords are encrypted under its own key in Google Cloud's key service. Closing the organization destroys the key.

Can I take every login with me?

Yes. An owner can export every login to a CSV file most password managers accept.

How do I get Pouch?

Pouch needs a Runner account. Open your workspace and choose Pouch from the sidebar.

What does Pouch cost?

Nothing extra. Pouch is included with your Runner subscription.
