Why is my X count higher than the character count?
X counts every link as 23 characters whatever its length, and counts emoji and most characters outside Latin scripts, such as Korean, Chinese and Japanese, as two. The X meter counts the same way.
What are the limits?
X 280, Bluesky 300, Threads 500, Instagram captions 2,200, LinkedIn posts 3,000, Pinterest descriptions 500 and YouTube titles 100. Each is the platform's own published limit for that field.
Does Instagram show the whole caption?
It shows the first lines and folds the rest behind more. Put the point of the post and any call to action in the opening line.
