The short version
- A Bot is an AI teammate you create by describing a job; it works on its own cloud computer and comes back for approval.
- Growth has a number and a date, and needs several jobs done every day. That is a team's work.
- Runner proposes the whole growth team from your code or POS sales report, with AI included or on your own model key, xAI's Grok among them.
- Keep your Bots on the workflows they rerun on a schedule. Add Runner for growth.
What a Bot is, in xAI's words
xAI’s one line: “Grok Bot gives you Bots you can keep around: AI teammates with names, jobs, and context that compounds over time.” It launched in beta on 11 August 2026. There is no workflow builder: “Create a Bot, describe the job, and grant access as it asks.”
“Each Bot works on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem, and terminal.” For your tools, “they use connectors where available and computer use for everything else.” “You work with a Bot by messaging it. Type, dictate, or start a voice chat,” and “your Bots can run in parallel, message each other, share context in group chats.”
Approvals, routines and what it costs
A Bot sends updates in the conversation and comes back when a task needs your approval, so drafts wait for your sign-off. Routines are learned, not configured: “Walk a Bot through a multi-step path once, and it can save the path as a skill and rerun it on a schedule.” xAI also names the edges: “A site can still block automation, expire a session, or require a human step,” and “one Bot runs one computer-use task on its screen at a time.”
On access: “Access is included with every paid individual Cursor plan and with the Cursor Teams plan.” Individual SuperGrok subscribers can link their accounts as well, and usage resets weekly.
Growth is a job, not a task
A Bot does the job you describe, as often as you ask, and the more precisely you describe it the better it goes. Growth is a different shape of work. It has a number and a date. It needs a lead list, outreach on each channel, ads watched, follow-ups sent and a weekly look at what moved, every week, whether or not you remembered to describe it. And someone has to keep score.
That is a team’s work. Runner proposes a whole growth team for your business, from your code or your POS sales report: a scout finds leads, channel leads draft the outreach, and leadership scores the work against the goal you set, on the model you pick.
What a team of your own adds
Six things a Bot on a task does not come with, and a growth team does:
Built around your business
Start from your code or your POS. Runner proposes a team to match what you sell.
A team, one job each
A scout finds leads and channel leads draft outreach. Leadership holds the team to your goal; two advisors argue both sides.
Your model, paid your way
Pick the model your chief executive and each lead run on. It runs on the AI credits your plan includes, or on your own key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI or Ollama.
Limits you set
Daily limits start at zero. Anything that fails a check comes to you as an approval, with the reason.
A goal you set
You pick what counts and the date. Runner counts only what was recorded, never what an agent says it did.
Your books, read live
Connect QuickBooks Online or Xero, and Runner reads your paid and open invoices, your top paying customers and a 90-day profit and loss straight from your books.
What to hand which
Keep your Bots on the workflows they rerun on a schedule. Add Runner for growth.
Hand a Bot the routine you can walk it through once. Hand Runner the number: the leads to find, the outreach per channel, the weekly review that proposes a bigger share of the goal for what works, and the board that keeps score. Runner’s team can run on Grok too: pick xAI as a member’s model, on your own key. The comparison page puts the two side by side, row by row.

Not until you switch the team on. Then it works inside the limits you set, and anything outside them comes to you first, with the reason.
The board keeps score against the goal you set, and medals go to real firsts, never to busywork.
