How it works
Paste English text: a page, an email, a menu description.
Read the score and the grade level.
Split the long sentences it lists and swap long words for short ones, then paste it again.

What is the Flesch reading ease score?
A score from about 0 to 100 worked out from the average sentence length and the average syllables per word. Higher is easier. Plain English sits around 60 to 70.
What is the Flesch–Kincaid grade level?
The same two measures turned into a US school grade: a score of 8 reads like text for a thirteen-year-old. Most marketing copy aims for grade 8 or below.
Does it work for languages other than English?
No. Both formulas were built for English, and the syllable count is English too. A score for other languages would mean nothing.
