Questions about the Word Counter

How are characters counted?

As a reader sees them: an emoji or an accented letter counts as one character. The count without spaces leaves out spaces, tabs and line breaks.

How is reading time worked out?

At 238 words a minute, the average silent reading speed for English non-fiction found across 190 studies. Speaking time uses 140 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a script or a talk.

Is my text saved anywhere?

No. It is counted in your browser and goes nowhere; close the page and it is gone.
