Know which post brought the visit.

Paste the page you are sending people to and say where the link will be posted. Copy the tagged link, and your analytics reports each visit under that campaign.

How it works

  1. Paste the page address you want people to land on.

  2. Fill in the source, medium and campaign. Term and content are optional.

  3. Copy the link and use it in that one place only, so every visit is counted to the right post.

Questions about the UTM Link Builder

What do source, medium and campaign mean?

Source is who sent the visit, such as instagram or newsletter. Medium is the kind of link, such as social, email or cpc for paid ads. Campaign names the push, such as spring_tarts. Keep them lower case and reuse the same words every time.

Where do I see the results?

In Google Analytics 4, under Reports, Acquisition, Traffic acquisition, with the session source, medium or campaign dimension. Most other analytics tools read the same tags.

Should I tag links on my own site?

No. Tag only links that bring people in from elsewhere. A tagged link between your own pages starts a new visit and overwrites where the visitor really came from.
