What makes a good URL slug?
Short, readable and made of the words a searcher would use: lower case, dashes between words, no dates or numbers that will go stale. A reader should be able to guess the page from the address.
Should I change the slug of a page that already exists?
Only with a redirect from the old address to the new one, or links and search results pointing at the old page will break. If the page already ranks, leave it.
What happens to letters like é and ü?
They are folded to their plain letters, é to e and ü to u, so the address reads the same everywhere. Letters from other scripts, such as Korean, are kept.
