Turn your POS sales report into posts about what sells

Drop in the sales report your POS already makes. Runner finds what sells and when you're quiet, and your team drafts posts about it for you to approve.

Updated

The short version

  • Drop in the item sales report your POS already makes, or connect your POS, and your team works from what sells.
  • Runner reads the file in your browser and keeps only a summary: your totals and your best sellers' names, never a customer.
  • Your team drafts posts about your best sellers. Nothing goes out until you approve it or switch the team on, and then only inside the limits you set.

Start from the report your POS already makes

Square, Lightspeed Retail, Toss Place and Toast connect directly. Lightspeed Restaurant and every other POS start from the sales report.

Shopify POS works through its orders CSV, and Clover follows once Clover approves Runner.

  1. Download your sales report

In your POS, export the item sales report as a CSV or Excel file. In Square, it's Reports, then Item sales, then Export.

  2. Pick the last 90 days

If each sale has a date and time, Runner also finds your busy and quiet times.

  3. Drop the file into Runner

It is read in your browser, and you see what Runner read before anything is saved.

  4. Press Use these sales

Runner keeps only a summary: your totals and your best sellers' names.

Only a summary leaves your browser

Runner reads the file in your browser and sends only a summary: your totals and your best sellers' names. Before anything is saved, you see what Runner read and every item name it will keep.

Runner keeps no customer names, emails or card numbers, and an item name that looks like an email address or a phone number is left out.

Try it first, for free

The free Sales Report X-ray reads your report in your browser and shows your busiest day and hour, your best sellers, your average ticket and three post ideas, as far as your report has the columns for them. Nothing is uploaded.

What Runner finds in your sales

From your sales, Runner finds your best sellers, and your busiest and quietest days and hours when the report has dates and times.

Your team is built around them: grow what already sells, bring people in on the quiet days and hours, and bring past customers back.

Posts about what sells, drafted for you to approve

On most social channels, the first post your team drafts is about your best seller. When a new item clearly takes over the top spot, the team drafts its next post about it.

  • A post says how many of something sold, never how much money it made, a price or a customer.
  • Till buttons like Custom amount or Gift card never count as a best seller.
  • Where your connected POS reports stock, an item about to run out drops out of your team's posts until it's back, and you get a task to reorder it. Toss Place reports no stock, and an uploaded report carries none.
  • If a best seller slows down, you get a task with an idea: try it in a bundle, or on a quiet day.

The bound

Nothing goes out until you approve it or switch the team on, and then only inside the limits you set.

A week of drafts at once

Your team drafts every day at the pace you choose: Steady, More or Heavy. Press Draft a week now, and it writes a week of drafts at once, for you to approve in one press. The team has to be switched on first.

What to check before you approve a draft

Keep your sales up to date

A connected POS keeps your summary up to date every hour, over the last 90 days.

If you drop in reports instead, the team page asks for a new one once yours is more than five weeks old. With an earlier report to compare, it says what changed, like a new best seller or new quiet days.

Questions about your POS sales report

Is my sales report uploaded?

Runner reads the file in your browser and sends only a summary, your totals and your best sellers' names, after you press Use these sales. The free Sales Report X-ray sends nothing at all.

Which report do I need?

The item sales report your POS already makes, as a CSV or Excel file, with an item column and a quantity or sales column. Pick the last 90 days. Dates and times on each sale add your busy and quiet times.

Will my posts show my prices or takings?

No. A post can say how many of something sold over the report's dates, never money, a price, a total or a customer.

How many posts does my team draft from one report?

Your team drafts every day at the pace you choose, Steady, More or Heavy, and Draft a week now writes a week of drafts at once for you to approve in one press. Drop in a fresh report when the team page asks, or connect your POS and it stays up to date every hour.

Does my team post on its own?

Nothing goes out until you approve it or switch the team on, and then only inside the limits you set.
